This collage discusses the idea of women cyborgs — hybrid human/non-human beings, or robot/animal-like organisms. Donna Haraway was the first scholar to theorize the concept of cyborgs as a response to the long tradition of objectifying women through anatomizing the body and depriving fundamental rights. In the seeming progress in feminism today, however, this misogynistic trend persists — in pop culture magazines like People, for example, where women’s sexuality is either attacked or fetishized. The author tore out elements from one of the latest People magazine issues and reassembled them to explore the possibility of twisting that tradition.
